Spectra Musica is an auditioned chamber choir of 25 singers under Musical Director, Peter Leech, based in Wincanton, Somerset. We perform three times a year throughout the South West of England. At our heart is a repertoire which spans six centuries and embraces all styles of music including music by Palestrina, Monteverdi, Byrd, Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns, Elgar, Fauré, Vaughan Williams, Shearing, Seiber, Bernstein, Gershwin, Lloyd Webber, Chilcott and Leech.
'All the Pleasures Prove' was full of songs to delight you. A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, In Beauty May I Walk and Orpheus and His Lute. We also brought you two beautiful works by Welsh compopser, Morfydd Owen - a possible English premier, 'Sweet and Low' and her 'Fierce Raged the Tempest O'er the Deep', which was never actually published. Other works to enjoy were by Parry, Rutter, Chilcott and Sterndale Bennett.
The evening was led by our talented Musical Director, Peter Leech who also showed his talents as a tenor soloist, along with concert pianist Anita D'Attellis.
We regret that, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic we are unable to rehearse or perform at present.
It is therefore uncertain when we will be able to begin rehearsing again, or when our next concert will take place.
